With over 800 systems installed worldwide, our leading-edge technologies - the Cyberknife and TomoTherapy Systems - put the emphasis on patient-focus care. Our offerings range from high-precision radiosurgery for early-stage and localized disease to 3D image-guided, intensity modulated radiation therapy for more advanced disease throughout the body.

Accuray is looking for Engineering Interns to join our Research and Development team this summer. Develop cutting-edge medical device technology that treats cancer while working with collaborative teams to perform technical activities that impact the design of our radiation therapy products.

This 8-10-week internship placement in Software Engineering will introduce you as an engineering student to the design, development, and documentation processes utilized by our teams in support of on-going Research & Development initiatives. These activities may include:

  • Develop software as part of a team responsible for the maintenance, support, and improvement of the robotic CyberKnife Treatment Delivery System.
  • Work with a functional team to understand requirements, and build a robust, effective system to meet them.
  • Implement new features and infrastructure improvements in a MS Windows and Linux-based C++ environment.

Required qualifications:

  • Working towards a degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Skills in C/C++ programming
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Desire to work in medical device software development a plus
  • Debugging skills, Software interface control of hardware devices
  • Experience in user interface design (ie: Qt Trolltech)

This is a great opportunity to use and grow your understanding of engineering concepts while learning new skills as you support various areas of technologies.

Students must have a desire to learn and improve engineering skills. The ability to work on complex software systems products in a collaborative team environment is essential.

Open to 3rd year in Bachelor or above students in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related majors.
