Position Details

Special Assets Officer III

A Special Assets Loan Officer III is responsible for the management, servicing and resolution of a portfolio of problem commercial loans, including complex commercial C&I / CRE loans and foreclosed real estate located throughout the country. Matters include an emphasis on obtaining efficient resolutions which maximize the repayment of the loans and minimizing bank loss.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Management of commercial loan portfolio, including complex C&I / CRE loans and small business / SBA loans.
  • Analyzing assigned accounts and loan documentation to identify issues while recommending and implementing cost-effective solutions to protect the bank's interest.
  • Obtaining and analyzing financial statements/tax returns, identifying strengths and weaknesses.
  • Formulating and proposing loan approvals, maintenance, and compliance in standard bank format
  • Monitoring assigned portfolio, maintaining current credit information within files.
  • Conducting and documenting borrower and site visits to review operating status and collateral, identify potential problems/needed repairs and quantify liquidation/recovery probabilities.
  • Locating, retaining and working closely with outside counsel where legal action is required to protect the bank's interests.
  • Monitoring status of litigation and implement foreclosure actions when necessary.
  • Participating in periodic portfolio review discussions with bank management and Watch Committee
  • Exercising best efforts to collect charge-off credits
  • Special projects, as identified and assigned by management
What Do You Need for this Position?
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, preferably in Business/Finance
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years banking or finance industry experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in management of complex commercial loan portfolio
  • Experience with the workout of criticized C&I and CRE commercial and small business / SBA loans strongly preferred
  • Base knowledge of foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings
  • Knowledge of bank operations and credit functions
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment; Word and Excel required
