WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Our team is looking for a Bike Application Engineer within our Global Mobility business sector.

  • This position will be responsible for collaborative work within the global Mobility group to execute strategies that support the acquisition and maintenance of new business in the cycling industry.
  • The position reports to the Application Engineering Manager for Carbon Drive and collaborates with both internal departments and external contacts at end consumers, OEM's, partners, and suppliers to align goals.
  • The main focus of the role will be on the development of future products, testing of components and systems, documentation, and customer application support.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Understanding the competitive landscape/market and building a product pipeline focused on capturing competitive market share on current and future applications
  • Support in the development of strategies, tactics, and products to target, penetrate and close competitive opportunities
  • Close collaboration and support of both inside business development managers, as well as partners, customers, and distributors
  • Ability to interact directly with customers, and understand their products and needs, and respond quickly to requests for assistance
  • Develop deep product and program knowledge of Gates bicycle product lines and applications in order to properly present capabilities, design drives, and develop new products
  • Develop and execute testing plans on current, future, and competitive products
  • Develop understanding of competitive products, accounts and Gates unique selling proposition versus the competition

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Experience working with industrial customers.
  • Highly proactive, self-starter requiring little to no supervision.
  • Highly organized and disciplined in representing Gates interests at targeted accounts.
  • Must understand the financial implications of specific actions or commitments that would be offered to support contract business.
  • Project management skills to follow up on work at specific plants or test sites.
  • Analytical skills to analyze customer data and organize outputs into actionable business plan objectives
  • Presentation and communication expertise
  • Strong Presentation and selling skills along with an operational understanding of key initiatives and drivers, and the ability to match these up with Gates capabilities
  • Cost savings and best practice communication by industry segment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

PAY & BENEFITS

  • Full-Time: $70,000 - $80,000
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
  • 401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match
  • Tuition Reimbursement
