JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Primary purpose:

To administer policies, practices, and procedures to accurately process payroll to ensure compliance with federal, state and local agencies. This includes calculation of wages, maintenance of records, report creation and distribution and analysis.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data. Prepare and process bi-weekly multi-state payroll via ADP vendor software, including processing new hires, terminations, salary changes, garnishments, benefits taxes, etc.
  • Support the administration of the electronic timekeeping system. Setup each employee, validate programs for each employee's changes, and adherence to FLSA; monitor submissions of approved timesheets, ensure valid data transfers to/from payroll service.
  • Review, analyze, and verify payroll reports and documents for accuracy. This includes researching, analyzing and providing recommendations for resolving complex issues.
  • Manage workflow to ensure payroll transactions are correctly processed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Service ADP, HBS and any other necessary system that interfaces with payroll input/output.
  • Ensure payroll and personnel information is kept confidential and employee confidence is maintained.
  • Prepare and assist in collections of data for bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as needed.
  • Improve payroll processing proactively and continuously.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Deliver outstanding service to both internal and external customers and administering payroll for employees
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.
  • Other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years direct work experience in Payroll may be considered as a substitute for a degree.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • A minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience in payroll administration.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in payroll laws and regulations.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to research and analyze various types of information.
  • Excellent writing skills necessary to develop presentations and communications.
  • Ability to solve problems and complex issues with little guidance.
  • Willingness to take initiative to begin projects, solve problems, improve a process, etc.
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively in a clear concise manner with employees, managers, and vendors.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with ability to build reports and communicate findings.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be dependable and have the ability to work under pressure while meeting critical time frames to complete projects.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • May be required to carry a cell phone, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:
  • Previous experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Previous experience using ADP.
  • Advanced Excel skills to include VLOOKUP and PivotTables.
