The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Deputy National Advisor, Cybersecurity & Risk, for our Washington, DC office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).

Starting base salary = $190,000 - $238,000 a year (commensurate with related experience).

The Deputy National Advisor of Cybersecurity and Risk services assists the AHA's National Advisor for Cyber Security and Risk in supporting the needs of the health care field on matters of cybersecurity and risk. This role will extend and complement practice capacity to address a greater number and variety of opportunities, and a succession path for the National Advisor. This role will be expected to acquire and maintain expert-level understanding of strategic cyber & risk issues in the health care domain, with special emphasis on hospital and health system operating environments:

  1. Build credibility and visibility in the field to complement, and eventually represent, the National Advisor for Cyber Security and Risk on national cyber and risk related member services, policy, advocacy, media and government relations issues.
  2. Collaborate with National Advisor to set the strategy and operating priorities for the practice, establish member value and fee-based practice offerings, and achieve the practice goals set forth annually.
  3. Review requests to advise, assist, or respond on practice-relevant issues. Coordinate with National Advisor, practice manager, and other colleagues as needed to vet, triage, and assign appropriate actions between the National Advisor and Deputy Advisor. Work with practice manager to schedule same.
  4. Develop and deliver presentations for internal AHA audiences, hospital and health system executives, state and regional hospital associations and commercial partners.
  5. Identify gaps/needs in practice offerings (e.g., services, tools, content) and mitigate same.
  6. Write and refresh practice content (e.g., white papers, field alerts, tabletop exercises, slide decks) for constituent groups.
  7. Work with National Advisor to manage the AHA Preferred Cybersecurity Provider (APCP) program to meet member, commercial participant and AHA goals.
  8. Collaborate with AHA colleagues across all functions to exchange expertise and draw the right resources at the right time to support the work of the practice.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelors of Technology Management Services (required)

Experience
7 - 10 years: Required professional experience in health care (preferred experience in hospital or health system) Required professional experience in cybersecurity and/or risk management roles (preferred cyber experience in health care domain) Required professional experience presenting to senior executives (preferred consulting experience with senior executives in health care). Government or military cybersecurity experience, not required, but strongly considered. (required)
