BASIC FUNCTION:

The Head of Chattel is responsible for direct leadership of Corporate and Agribusiness Channels and the Evaluators . Additionally this leader oversees the Director of Chattel and their function which includes the Retail and Commercial Evaluation work. This role requires a courageous and experienced people leader with strong attention to ensuring key relationships with internal and external customers are appropriately managed, serviced, and maintained. The ideal candidate is an excellent problem solver who focuses on challenging the status quo and coaches their team to achieve high performing results.

This leader is responsible to ensure they and their team maximize relationships up and across the association with our largest and most valued customers. It is expected that this function delivers quality, timeliness and an efficient process for our lenders, underwriters, and most importantly our customers. This leader uses data and insights to make informed and strategic decisions with the partnership of their peers in the Evaluation Services, Corporate, and Agribusiness functions.

Dedication to ensuring quality is delivered in accordance with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and Association lending standards as well as to rules and regulations of the Farm Credit Administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

* Highly skilled at understanding and applying the concepts of Asset Based Lending which includes the use of financial statements, Borrowing Base Certificates and related information.
* Demonstrates leadership effectiveness through focusing on driving accountability and leading a team who delivers on what is expected.
* Leads with a continuous improvement mindset and drives efficiency.
* Responsible for your own Evaluation Production as business needs require.
* Responsible for overseeing the proper execution of evaluations across all commodities serviced by the Corporate, Agribusiness, and Retail Channels.
* Personally skilled and leads teams with expertise in evaluating a wide cross section of the collateral: Vineyards, Dairies, Trees, Fruits & Nuts, Timber, Field Crops, Vegetables, Berries, Nurseries, Livestock, Feedlot, Poultry, Winery, Forest Products, Other Marketing, Processing or Farm Equipment, Accounts, and inventory.
* Expectation that this leader will ensure the team(s) they support work actively towards obtaining broader expertise to reflect business needs in the market.
* Drive teams towards innovation and operating at the highest efficiency
* Is able to independently assess, verify and evaluate chattel collateral at any level.
* Has full Delegated Evaluation Authority and skilled to independently complete or provide adequate supervision to others to complete all Evaluation Levels.
* Is able to independently assess the adequacy of farming practices, and associated risks during the Site Visits.
* Responsible for the overall accuracy of the data developed and maintained by the Specialists Role; including Data and Technology, Dairy and Protein and Asset Based Lending.
* Works in a highly collaborative process to prioritize evaluation requests.
* Meets and maintains the evaluation standards and trainings for the designated commodities. Actively seeks to gain expertise in additional commodities as well as expertise in completing more complex evaluations.
* Works with evaluation and appraisal staff in training, coaching, report peer proofing and co-signing of reports. Complete Internal Reviews of reports prepared for association use by internal evaluators outside fee appraisers.
* Execute strategic planning and in alignment with department and EST leadership.
* Leads special projects for Evaluation Services Team as assigned by leadership.
* Flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time as business needs require.
* Perform other duties assigned.


LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
Supervise a team of Directors, Evaluators, and Specialists. Works under the supervision of Executive Head of Evaluation Services.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* At least five years of experience in a similar role in leadership and chattel evaluation.
* Bachelor's degree is preferred
* Successfully demonstrate the ability to develop and lead a team of high producing evaluators grounded in the core values of American AgCredit.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds required. In the course of conducting inspections, must have the ability to walk mile, navigate steep terrain and/or construction sites and safely cross fences. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

PART-TIME REMOTE/HYBRID: These employees will work partly remote and partly onsite. Part-time remote employees will work with their managers to determine when and how often they are needed onsite.

PAY RANGE

Minimum $138,102.40 - Max $207,153.60 Annual

This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
