Summary

The primary function of the Buyer/Planner is to ensure high customer satisfaction and on time delivery through planning materials, generating purchase orders, and managing delivery of goods and services. This is accomplished through purchasing materials from suppliers and effective part availability; ensuring orders are delivered on time, in the right quantity, and in a manner most efficient for the company.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with sales, marketing and product support teams to effectively capture demand needs.
  • Purchase required materials to support both the future forecast and current customer orders.
  • Evaluate part demand history to plan inventory levels for high part availability.
  • Responsible for executing/supporting all types of supplier raw material orders and material data analytics, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and on time delivery though management of backorders; expediting and escalating as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field required
  • Degree in supply chain management or equivalent preferred but not essential
  • ERP/MRP experience.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytic capability.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally work under pressure, in a team-oriented environment, with frequent changes in deadlines and priorities.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.
