The Opportunity

DAT is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This position can be based in Denver, Colorado; Beaverton, Oregon; or fully remote.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be seen as a technical leader, responsible for working with other Staff and Principal engineers in promoting improvements and best practices in software development on your team and across DAT. You will mentor other engineers on your team by participating in code reviews, design reviews and in pairing sessions. You will work alongside the team, developing full-stack features with them. The initial effort will be focused on building integration APIs with our 3rd party partners and you will assist in initiatives to migrate users from legacy systems to our modern microservice-based architecture, but your responsibilities will eventually include a broader exposure within the company.

What You'll Do

  • A balanced blend of hands-on development, technical leadership, and mentoring
  • Work with other technical leaders, own, and help drive change across shared Front-End, NodeJS microservices on our AWS cloud-native platform.
  • Work with a team to build high quality and scalable integrations with our customers and partners.
  • Mentor software engineers utilizing proven design patterns and your experience building modern enterprise software.
  • Work in an AWS environment for both prototyping of new technologies using existing CI/CD systems with GitHub Actions
  • Assist in the architectural design of new APIs, serverless functions, and data storage solutions.
  • Assist in event-based architecture design and implementation using Kafka streams.
  • Assist in data storage using SQL and NoSQL technologies.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of fully automated test suites.
  • Work with the product and UX organizations in establishing business requirements.

The Skills and Experience You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's or other Technical Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 8+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
  • Experience providing technical leadership to teams solving challenging problems.
  • Ability to work on large tasks with minimal, if any, day to day oversight
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Deep understanding of design patterns and clean code practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Deep understanding of Node.JS, JavaScript and Typescript
  • Deep understanding and experience with both AWS server-based and serverless technologies (EC2, S3, Lambda, etc).
  • Professional experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Professional experience with Kafka or equivalent message queuing technologies (RabbitMQ, SQS, ActiveMQ, etc)
  • Nice to have:
    • Understanding of GraphQL and Apollo technologies
    • Experience developing in React or Angular

For Colorado-based candidates, in compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, theminimum salary for this role is $150,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
