The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Program Director to join our Skilled Trades & Technical Sciences Career & Technical Education (CTE) team at System Office. In this role you will promote excellence in CTE programs in secondary schools, area vocational schools/colleges, and community colleges in Colorado by assisting institutions with the development and management of secondary and postsecondary CTE programs. The Colorado Community College System's Career and Technical Education (CTE) team serves approximately 2,000 CTE programs at the middle, high school, and postsecondary level across Colorado, including approximately 179 school districts, 20 community colleges, and public entities such as the Department of Corrections. Examples of Duties

The Program Director provides leadership and expertise in the development and coordination of CTE curriculum and assists with the development of advisory committees and student organizations. They coordinate training and mentoring opportunities for CTE faculty and administrators while facilitating content committees for secondary and postsecondary faculty to develop standards for CTE programs. They assist with the implementation of career pathways and plans of study that provide a seamless transition from secondary to postsecondary programs. The Program Director also provides liaison activities with the Colorado Association of Career and Technical Education (CACTE). Finally, the Director promotes and implements initiatives as outlined in the Colorado CTE and CCCS Strategic Plans.

  • Provide leadership in the field (schools, districts, teachers, etc.) in planning, developing and updating standards, competencies, and curriculum.
  • Assist with the development of local advisory committees for secondary and postsecondary programs.
  • Facilitate training and mentoring for new CTE educators.
  • Provide new program development technical assistance and best practices support to secondary schools via field visits, email, newsletters, telephone support, webinars, etc.
  • Create and provide resources for supporting local schools with their design and implementation of high quality CTE programs in content area.
  • Supervise and support the Assistant Program Director/CTSO Advisor in developing strong student organizations, which could include financial analysis support, event planning, industry and business connections.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate field such as Education or fields related to the industries supported in these programs like construction or management. Industry-recognized credentials or a DORA license in a skilled trades area will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain aColorado career and technical education credential.
  • Three years of career and technical education administration (or equivalent leadership experience in business or industry) or teaching experience.
