Job Overview

The Manager, Case Management is responsible for directing and managing daily case management operations, while achieving objectives for the operation; developing individuals and team; and ensuring team effectiveness.

Shift: Typical working hours will be M-F days. This is a leadership position, so some flexibility will be needed.

Qualifications

Education: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's in health related field.
Experience: Three years of clinical experience and two years of nursing leadership experience in supervision, leading clinical practice projects, serving as a charge nurse or house supervisor, and/or precepting.
Equivalency: Bachelor's degree in Nursing plus two additional years of leadership experience over nursing or nurse case management will substitute for the Master's degree requirement.
Certification(s): Nursing Case Management Certification.
Licensure(s): Registered Nurse License

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
* Develops annual work plans used to achieve goals and performance metrics.
* Directs and manages the daily case management operations of the department to ensure policies, procedures, and guidelines are being followed.
* Participates in leadership activities for division, contributing to the achievement of goals and objectives; evaluates team performance. Defines and maintains internal processes for function; establishes patient experience standards and handles operational and patient/family escalations for function. Serves as a champion of enterprise-wide culture, influencing culture change to support functional objectives.
* Provides clinical expertise and leads department team members in providing developmentally appropriate care and evaluating outcomes for infants and children with complex health care needs.
* Utilizes expert evidence-based practice to provide clinical expertise to the healthcare team in coordinating developmentally appropriate care and evaluating outcomes for patients with complex health care needs. Provides clinical follow up when desired outcomes are not achieved.
* Manages communications to the enterprise on projects and important topics related to nursing case management. Maintains effective working relationships with peers in division, peers in other divisions, and senior leadership.
* Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction (OTJ or formal training) and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Manages discipline and performance issues; hires and fires team members. Identifies resource needs and develops recommendations for meeting needs.
* Develops budget recommendations and in monitoring budget.
* Works on highly complex or controversial projects; performs project management activities. Provides technical expertise on programs, processes, and best practices.
* Ensures compliance against federal, state, and local regulations for functional area.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
* Knowledge of case management, care coordination and utilization review.
* Knowledge in medical/ clinical operations.
* Knowledge in principles of communication: verbal and written, to deal with all levels of personnel.
* Ability to demonstrate customer service skills with hospital/ clinic staff, children, parents, and visitors.
* Knowledge of computer use and software to include MS office and other software used for hospital operations.
* Skill in developing and maintain effective working relationships with personnel.
* Ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
* Ability to work independently and as a team member.
* Ability to analyze financial information to forecast operational budgets, setting department unit goals and workforce planning.
* Ability to utilize motivational techniques to develop leadership and decision-making within the department.

SCOPE & LEVEL
Guidelines: Guidelines are in the form of stated goals and objectives for function.
Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured and leader is responsible for implementing and managing a variety of objectives, resources, and initiatives to achieve the goals of the function. Duties performed include operational planning; developing standards, priorities, guidelines, processes, measurement (evaluation) systems; implementation of production and performance management standards; and allocating resources. Work is tactical and operational in nature.
Decision Making: Employee is responsible for planning, organizing, allocating resources, ensuring compliance with procedures, and achieving the objectives of the function.
Communications: Communication at this level is primarily internally focused and involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, peers, directors, and executives. Provides guidance and interpretation of the enterprise's policies, procedures, and standards. Provides information to higher-level directors and executives.
Supervision Received: Responsible for achieving the objectives of function within the scope of established guidelines. Employee is expected to resolve problems that arise in the normal course of the work. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and feasibility of decisions.

Physical Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Will frequently stand/walk for 6-8 hours per day.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $112,925.52 to $169,388.27
Hourly Salary Range: $54.29 to $81.44
