Background
The Mentor Program Manager will oversee the daily operations of the mentoring component of the DiscoverU intervention, which is being piloted in a NIH-funded study. The study is examining the use of a mentoring afterschool program to improve adolescent and young adult physical activity and mental health. In this program young adults (e.g., college students) are trained to mentor adolescents in an afterschool program focused on improving physical activity, enhancing interpersonal skills and self-regulation, fostering social connection, and improving depression symptoms. This project builds on a previously developed afterschool program by revising the program and expanding to work with new school and community partners. The Mentor Program Manager will be critical to transition of the program from being implemented by researchers to being implemented through the YMCA. Accordingly, this position will supervise mentors and be a liaison between the research and implementation teams. Program management tasks may include but are not limited to marketing, program evaluation, and program facilitation.
